Hong Kong

Aku berkesempatan ke Hong Kong pada 17-20 Nov. Aku berlepas dari KLIA dgn pesawat MAS MH72 jam 9:15pg dan tiba di HKIA pada 1:00tgh. Dalam flight muka cina je semua. I took the airport express train cost me around HK80 (RM40-lebihkurang ERL fare RM35). Then took a feeder bus ke Novotel Century hotel di Wan Chai where I am staying. The hotel cost me HK953 per nite. Aku dan kawan aku ni sebenarnya attending Sales Training kat sini. So ada masa free tu cari peluang la meronda.

First thing I noticed is that Hong Kong is very clean. Secondly the public relying heavily on efficient integrated public transport system that consist of beautiful double-decker buses, trams, taxis, ferries, and railway transportation (called MRT with 10 different lines) to cover 3 main area - the Lantau Island (where the airport is), Hong Kong Island (downtown where I am staying), and Kowloon/New Territories area (connected to mainland China).

There are lots of tall (at least 50 storey) and thin apartment blocks all over the place. Kat downtown Hong Kong the buildings were build closed together and interconnect with each other by covered overhead bridges so that you can walk your way to the next building or street conveniently. Dan satu lagi aku tengok depa ni guna buluh di ikat dgn tali plastic as the supporting structure for building construction or renovation instead of steels. Dan depa ni jalan kaki, mak datuk laju habis, tak larat aku.

Cuaca lak mild and windy, so semua orang aku tengok suka pakai light jacket or sweater. Amoi lak trend kat sana pakai boot paras lutut. Motorbikes tak kira la yg besar key yg scooter ke yg dok parking tepi jalan tu, depa siap special motor canvas cover. Town semua pakai underground drainage system la kan. Yang kerja kat McDonald tu aku tengok amoi tua semuanya. Kedai seven-eleven memang melambak. Tapi barang mahal beb, coke dlm RM4, snickers dlm RM5. Floor space kat sini memang mahal gila, jadi biasa la kalau hotel room atau office area kecik semacam je. Sempatlah aku pi melawat tempat shopping yg famous seperti Causeway Bay, Mong Kok, and Stanley Market.

On Friday tu pi solat kat Masjid HK di Nathan street Kowloon, ramai rupanya muslim kat sini tapi mostly from Pakistan & India origin. Asyraf Mullah, mufti HK yg bagi tazkirah (1 jam in Hindi) dan khutbah (in Arabic & English) pada hari tu. It is a 3-storey mosque at Kowloon Park. Jemaah hari tu mencecah 3000 orang. Hebat hebat.

3rd day tu aku pi la HK Disneyland, tiket HK380 (RM140) beb. Standard la kan kat situ ada Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tommorowland. Souvenirs dia mahal ooo – paling murah pun kincir (HK35), yg lain sweater (HK150), T-shirt LS (HK130), SL (HK100), and mug (HK40). Habis gak la HK500 kat situ. Antara attraction yg aku enjoy ialah Lion King Festival (live performance), Donald Duck & friends (3-D show), and Space Mountain roller-coaster ride. Balik tu naik MRT singgah masjid kat Kowloon and tanya brother kat situ restoran halal. Dia bagi business card dua restoran kat Chung King Mansion nearby. Rupanya 60% of that 20 storey shoplots & apartment block di huni oleh those Indian/Pakistan muslims. Jadi kat bawah tu dah ramai agen-agen yg dok promote restoran masing-masing. So end-up kat Khyber Pass Club at level 7, pekena beryani kambing. Cost me HK39, dapat diskaun 10%. Not bad, setelah dua hari tak jumpa nasi. Rupanya ramai gak mat salleh and cina yg makan kat restoran tu. Cross ke HK island naik feri lak HK2.60 je.

Last day tu aku pi Stanley Market, located outskirt sikit, memang best, banyak barang at a bargain. The bus rides (HK5.60)lak melalui lereng-lereng bukit tepi beach, view memang mengancam abis. The best bargain yg aku dapat ialah beli 3 hand made painting at HK40 each, reebok sweater at HK50 and 4 t-shirts for HK100.

OK adios Hong Kong. Check-out at 1pm, get a taxi to MRT station for HK40, and take Airport Express. Taking off at 2:30pm on flight MH73. Again dalam flight muka cina je semua. Pramugari je melayu. Flight ticket round-trip cost me RM3,450. Touch down at KLIA about 6pm. Took ERL to KL-Central & Komuter to Rawang where my family awaiting for Pizza Hut’s dinner around 9pm. No place like home. Malaysia still is the best, but a few things we can learn from Hong Kong for sure !!
